Show Notes
In this episode of the Driven Female Entrepreneur Podcast, I speak with Mine Uran, the CEO & Co-Founder of Alver World SA.
Mine Uran has been looking for the ultimate substitute to animal protein for almost 20 years. She worked as a food engineer for companies like Unilever and DuPont, and then as the Head of Protein at Nestlé. Her original focus as a worldwide recognized protein expert was on plant proteins such as soy and pea proteins. When she discovered that microalgae offered a sustainable source of protein, she switched her focus, but found it hard to get support from Corporate.
Believing that businesses were not doing enough to address sustainability and climate change, she decided to use her time and energy to start her own business instead. Mine quit her job and co-founded Alver with Majbritt Byskov-Bridges, to turn to the world's oldest living creatures: microalgae, into a source of sustainable nutrition.
Now her aim is to create healthy and sustainable food for today's and tomorrow's societies, promoting more sustainable eating habits and using her company's products to contribute to future food security.
Don't miss this episode to discover more about Mine's journey, as she shares a wealth of advice including how being brave is a must for managing a start-up and why trusting in others helps them win.
If you have your clear vision I recommend you communicate it and be bold. We can be bold. We should be much bolder. -Mine Uran

About Mine
For over 20 years, Mine Uran has been searching for the perfect alternative to animal protein. As a food engineer, Mine led teams at Unilever and DuPont, and finally as Head of Protein at Nestlé. As a globally recognised protein expert, her initial focus was on plant proteins, such as those from soy or peas. However, due to the high demand for arable land and water, Mine understood that the path to sustainable nutrition could only be taken by the oldest living creatures on earth: microalgae. So Mine left Nestlé and founded Alver together with Majbritt Byskov-Bridges. Their aim is to provide healthy and sustainable food for the society of today and tomorrow.
